Window Cleaning

wmwcs_van.jpgWest Midlands Window Cleaning Services provides a high quality Reach and Wash window cleaner service to both commercial and residential clients in Birmingham and the Black Country.

All our window cleaning is completed to the highest standard by fully trained operatives who are recognised for their friendly and personal service. We treat all our customers' homes and premises with the utmost respect. No wonder then that most of our new business results from personal recommendations.

At WMWCS we are true professionals - proficient window cleaning requires mastery of several difficult techniques, which separate the experts from mere amateurs. Odd job window cleaners lack the necessary experience and training. Their work is usually of a lower standard, they are uninsured, take risks and simply do not have the best equipment.

Much of the window cleaning we do uses the Reach and Wash system. Many customers have asked us why we use this system instead of traditional methods. In 2005 the Govenrment implemented The Work at Height Regulations which has forced us to avoid using ladders as much as possible. It is what the law demands, to do otherwise is breaking the law.

This law applies to all work at height, where there is a risk of a fall liable to cause injury. It places a duty of care on employers, the self-employed, and any person that controls the work of others working at a height (for example; building owners who may contract others to work at a height). Those responsible must ensure that no work is done at height if it is safe and reasonably practicable to avoid this.

Some of our customers think the new system does not work very well. The BBC carried out a televised comparison on traditional methods and the pole Reach and Wash system.

bbc-newsnight.jpg The BBC Newsnight programme compared traditional window cleaning techniques and the water fed pole (Reach and Wash). There was no difference in cleaning results but an interesting point did come out. When the Reach and Wash system is first used, it has to flush away the detergents left behind by traditional methods - this may not be possible on every initial clean and so we tell customers they may have to wait until the second or third wash before they see the real benefits of the system.
